International Day of Rural Women
About one-third of Australia’s population lives in regional, rural, and remote areas. As a College built on leading the way, RACMA strives to set an example of quality leadership, management and initiative for the entire Australasian healthcare industry. As such we are proud we have a number of Members delivering high quality and effective medical administration in rural and regional areas, a number of whom are women.
In celebrating International Day of Rural Women (15 October), it is important we recognise and commend the key contributions, achievements and ongoing critical role our female leaders play to ensure the highest standards of healthcare across all areas of Australasia. The College also wants to highlight the crucial role, not only our women Members play, but the female influences in all of our Members lives, in ensuring the sustainability of rural households and communities, improving rural livelihoods and overall wellbeing.
This year’s theme for the International Day of Rural Women, “Rural Women Cultivating Good Food for All”, highlights the essential role that rural women and girls play in the food systems of the world.
RACMA believes Achieving gender equality and empowering women is not only the right thing to do but is a critical ingredient in the fight against extreme poverty, hunger and malnutrition.
